6.0 Planck's Quantum Theory
Planck define the radiation as a packets of energy known as quanta.
He relates the energy of a photon with the frequency of the light waves as, $$\begin{equation} \begin{aligned} \Rightarrow E = h\nu = \frac{{hc}}{\lambda } \\ \Rightarrow E = \frac{{12400eV}}{{\lambda (A^\circ )}} \\\end{aligned} \end{equation} $$
where
$h$ = Planck's constant = $6.63 \times {10^{ - 34}}J - s$
$E$ = energy of photon or quantum
$\nu $ = frequency of emitted radiation
If $n$ is the number of quanta of a particular frequency then total energy ${E_T}$ is given by, $${E_T} = nh\nu $$
