8.0 Radicofunctional naming

An alternate system of naming, which is still very common in many textbooks, consists of naming the alkyl or aryl groups attached to a certain functional group as separate words followed by the functional group name.

The alternative naming of ethers and amines is a remnant of this system. The following example suffice to illustrate the system.
