  • The group $1$ consists of six elements: Lithium(Li), Sodium(Na), Potassium(K), Rubidium(Rb), Caesium(Cs) and Francium(Fr) are called alkali metals because their solution in water is highly alkaline in nature. All these elements are paramagnetic.


  • Li is the lightest element and the strongest reducing agent. Rb and Cs are highly electropositive. Fr is radioactive and has very short life span.
