A lens is a portion of a transparent refracting medium bounded by two spherical surfaces or one spherical surface and the other plane surface.
Lens are divided into two classes,
1. Convex lens or converging lens
2. Concave lens or diverging lens
4.0.1 Convex lens or converging lens
When a lens is thicker in the middle than at the edges, it is known as convex lens or converging lens.
Convex lens are of three types
- Double convex lens or biconvex lens
- Plano convex lens
- Concave o convex lens
4.1.2 Concave lens or diverging lens
When a lens is thicker at the middle than in the middle, it is known as concave lens or diverging lens.
Concave lens are of three types
- Double concave lens or biconcave lens
- Plano concave lens
- Convex o concave lens
