Kinetic Theory of Gases
2.0 Ideal Gas
2.0 Ideal Gas
A gas which obeys all the assumption of Kinetic Theory of Gases is called an ideal gas. Generally, no gas is an ideal gas.
For ideal gas, the equation used is called ideal gas equation, which is $$PV = NRT$$
where,
$P$ = Pressure of gas
$V$ =Volume of gas = Volume of container
$N$=number of moles of gas
$R$ = Universal Gas Constant = 8.3 = $\frac{{25}}{3}Jmo{l^{ - 1}}{K^{ - 1}}$
$T$ = Absolute Temperature
$$\begin{equation} \begin{aligned} {k_B} = \frac{R}{{{N_A}}} = Boltzmann{\text{ }}Constant \\ \\\end{aligned} \end{equation} $$
$N$ = Number of molecules of gas
$$\begin{equation} \begin{aligned} N = \frac{m}{M} = \frac{N}{{NA}} \\ \\\end{aligned} \end{equation} $$
$m$ is the mass of gas containing $N$ molecules, $M$ is molar mass.
