4.0 Adsorption Isotherms

At constant temperature, adsorption of a gas on a solid surface increases with increase in pressure of the gas. However, it should be noted that the increase in adsorption gas, it is found to be somewhat less.

This relation between the amount adsorbed by an adsorbent and the pressure of the gas at a constant temperature is called the adsorption isotherm. Two such adsorption isotherms are discussed below.
