1.0 S-Block Elements
Elements in which last electron enters the s- orbital are known as s- block elements. The elements of group $1$ and $2$ in the periodic table are known as s-block elements.
Includes two groups:
- Group $IA$ – alkali metals with Configuration – [inert gas] $ns^1$, [Oxidation State = $+1$]
- Group $IIA$ – alkaline earth metals with Configuration – [inert gas] $ns^2$, [Oxidation State = $+2$]
