17.0 Battery
A cell or battery which we use in everyday life is a galvanic cell which converts the chemical energy of spontaneous reactions into electrical energy. There are following characteristics of ideal battery:
$(i)$ It should be compact and reasonably light.
$(ii)$ Voltage should be constant i.e it should not vary with the time during usage.
There are two types of batteries which we use in everyday's life:
$(i)$ Primary Battery
$(ii)$ Secondary Battery
