7.0 Colligative Properties
As we know, on addition of non volatile solute to volatile solvent, vapour pressure of solution decreases. Many properties of solution depends on lowering of vapour pressure, such as:

1) Relative lowering of vapour pressure

2) Elevation of boiling point of solvent

3) Depression of freezing point of solvent

4) Osmotic pressure of solution.

Basically, colligative properties are measured to get molar mass of solute.

All these colligative properties depends on number of non volatile solute particles not on their nature.

We will discuss these four type of colligative properties one by one.
