  Thermometry and Thermal Expansion
    1.0 Introduction
2.0 Thermal Expansions and it's types
    3.0 Relation between $\alpha ,\,\beta \,$ and $\gamma $
4.0 Variation of Density with Temperature
    5.0 The Expansion of Water
    6.0 Questions

4.1 Different substances expand at different ratesAs the coefficient of expansions of different materials are different, the substances expands at different rates. For Example, consider a bimetallic strip, made of one side steel and the other side brass. When the temperature of the strip is increased, the brass side expands more than the steel side due higher coefficient of expansion of brass than the steel. If the temperature is decreased, then the brass contrasts more than the steel.
