    7.0 Colloidal System

7.0 Colloidal System
Finely divided particles of any substance with diameter lying within $1$ to $100$ $nm$ range dispersed in any medium constitute what we term a colloidal system solution.

  • Colloidal solutions are intermediate between true solutions and suspensions.

  • Colloidal system is a two-phase system.

  • Dispersed phase is a discontinuous phase which is a cluster of particles within the colloidal range suspended in a dispersion medium (called continuous medium).

  • The dispersed phase and dispersion medium may be solid, liquid and gas.
