Motion in One Dimension
    7.0 Relative motion

7.0 Relative motion

The term rest and motion are relative terms. When we say any body to be at rest or in motion, it is with respect to (wrt) it's surrounding.

If the position of the body does not change wrt it's surrounding then it is at rest wrt it's surrounding.

Similarly, when the position of the body changes wrt it's surrounding, then we say that the body is in motion.

The velocity with which we dealt so far was wrt ground. It is also termed as absolute velocity.

In the relative motion, we study the motion of one body wrt another.

We can understand relative motion as,

1. Relative displacement
2. Relative velocity
3. Relative acceleration
