Definition: If a random variable $X$ takes the values ${x_1},{x_2},...,{x_n}$ with respective probabilities ${p_1},{p_2},...,{p_n}$ , then,

$P(X)$:${p_1}$${p_2}$${p_3}$......${p_n}$
is known as probability distribution of $X$.
It is defined only if $\sum\limits_{i = 1}^n {{p_i}} = 1$ and ${p_i}$ is never negative.
