Alcohols, esters (but not ethyl benzoate, diethyl malonate or diethyl oxalate), aldehydes, methyl ketones and cyclic ketones containing less than nine carbon atoms as well as ethers containing less than seven carbon atoms are also soluble in 85 percent phosphoric acid.
